In order to promote "Integrity" with strict yet fair requirements, the IMLF is offering what no other organization has had the ability to offer. The IMLF builds a framework that not only promotes but “INSISTS” upon integrity - thereby attributing no visible “loopholes” for anyone to abuse utilizing the IMLF requirements.

It is our belief that the "dollars and cents" benefits that will come from these requirements will serve to benefit miniature llama owners in the future. It is an unarguable fact that these standards will only serve to benefit the animals we love equally.

These standards will eliminate in-breeding within the limited number of these small blessings, thus averting what could become a gene pool disaster. This will be accomplished by certain knowledge of the DNA'd pedigree of animals we intend to use in our breeding program.

Bad or poorly managed breeding programs will become apparent in time.  Excellent breeding programs will become obvious.  Any "registry" is of no value if the pedigrees they depict are not backed up with supportable and accurate documentation.  The IMLF is mandating the opportunity to advance in a way many have sought, discussed, envisioned, and desired within the llama industry for an extended period of time. The IMLF, in taking this first step toward DNA required testing, is assuring the breeding program of the llama that has been purchased.  This reality states very clear to all that indisputable efforts will not be futile.

Verified certification will benefit owners, breeders, the show llama enthusiasts, the hikers with their camelid buddy by their side as well as the miniature llama itself. The IMLF reiterates the purpose of these certifications is not to diminish existing llamas or penalize owners for unidentified inaccuracies of the past, but to enhance and stabilize the future of our beloved mini llamas.
