ICI ANNOUNCES VIDEO SERIES FOR CAMELID OWNERS
The International Camelid Institute (ICI) is pleased to announce that it is producing a series of videos for camelid owners and breeders that will be available on its website, www.icinfo.org, starting in April 2010. Topics covered will include, but not be limited to, proper halter fitting, body condition scoring, trimming toenails, proper administration of injections, removal of fighting teeth, passing a stomach tube, and shearing for health. Additionally there will be on-farm videos dealing with birthing, initial cria handling and how to deal with potential problems as well as IgG testing and plasma transfer.

Production of the videos will be under the supervision of camelid veterinarians but in most cases procedures will be done by an alpaca or llama owner in the hope that owners will feel more comfortable taking on many of these tasks that are necessary for proper herd health and maintenance. It will also be noted when it is appropriate to contact a veterinarian.
